The University of Nebraska Athletic Department is aggressively looking at the future of Memorial Stadium.

"We are actively seeking input from our season ticket holders and fans on a potential upgrade and expansion of what we firmly believe is already one of the best college football venues in America," said Paul Meyers, Nebraska's Associate Athletic Director for Development.

Meyers said emails were sent to Nebraska's football season ticket holders and donors on Monday, encouraging them to participate in a survey that will help guide any decision to consider expanding Memorial Stadium.

Beginning today, the same survey is also available to all fans on Huskers.com.

In 1999, Nebraska added 42 suites and 2,400 club seats to the West side of Memorial Stadium. In 2006, NU added 13 suites and more than 6,000 seats to the North Stadium.

"We are considering adding suites and/or club seating, and/or additional seats to the East Stadium," Meyers said. "For us to make educated decisions, it's vital that we first evaluate the interest level."

This is simply a preliminary survey with no specific plans at this time. "There is no guarantee that such a project will come to fruition, and there is no timeline for construction to begin or end," Meyers said.

While the survey is primarily to gauge interest in possible new seating options on the east side of Memorial Stadium, it also could help determine the need for a broader plan.

If you're interested in assisting the assessment of Memorial Stadium's future needs, just click on the attached link and fill out a questionnaire.

Filling out the form does not commit fans to future purchases.

"We appreciate what our fans have created in Memorial Stadium, and we need their continued input so we can remain one of the special programs in all of college football," Meyers said.

The survey, available by clicking this link, will be on Huskers.com until Friday June 4. Nebraska's official athletic website will publish the results of the survey when completed.
