Rex Burkhead was honored as the 2010 Nebraska Lifter of the Year, an award given annually to the player who has shown the greatest dedication and improvement in the Huskers' strength and conditioning program.
Burkhead, a native of Plano, Texas, is the first I-back since Dan Alexander in 1997 to win the award. Burkhead is just the fourth I-back since the award's inception since 1974 to earn the honor, joining I.M. Hipp (1977) and Jeff Smith (1984).
Defensive tackle Jared Crick, a senior in 2011, captured the Lifter-of-the-Year Award in 2009.
