Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
Nebraska's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) was implemented in 1987 to ensure that student-athletes have a voice regarding their total student-athlete experience. SAAC is a recognized student organization at the University of Nebraska and consists of at least one team appointed representative from each of Nebraska's 24 intercollegiate teams. SAAC meets bi-weekly throughout the academic year, communicating directly with Athletic Director Bill Moos on various student-athlete welfare issues. SAAC also coordinates a number of events within the athletic department and in the community of Lincoln to promote the importance of education, service and responsible decision making. Nebraska's SAAC has been recognized across the country as one of the most comprehensive, consistent and productive in the country.

SAAC Passes the Torch to New Officers
The 2017-18 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) under the leadership of President Austin Post, Vice President Alli Peterson, Big Ten Representative Nina Radulovic and Secretary Madi Unzicker had a productive year guiding several notable accomplishments. Representatives from SAAC met with adidas leading up to the athletic department’s new contract providing critical feedback and insight regarding product. The group also was instrumental in helping coordinate the annual Diversity & Inclusion Summit emphasizing mental health. The SAAC membership also took the lead in planning an annual food drive benefiting the Lincoln Food Bank along with a new initiative, “One Shirt, One Body.” This clothing drive provided title 1 Lincoln Public Schools students with gently used adidas shirts. SAAC meetings included presentations from Compliance, Athletic Director Bill Moos and Chief Financial Officer John Jentz. The leadership team of Post, Peterson, Radulovic and Unzicker have also altered the process to determine team representatives and prior to next fall will have revised the existing SAAC constitution. At the final spring 2018 meeting, elections occurred with the membership selection the 2018-19 officers. Gymnast Anton Stephenson was elected as the new President of SAAC and softball student-athlete leader Madi Unzicker was appointed Vice President. Sinclaire Miramontez of the Husker Soccer team was voted the new Big Ten Representative and sophomore to be golf student-athlete Daniel Pearson is the new Secretary. Thank-you to all members of the 2017-18 SAAC and we look forward to a productive and impactful 2018-19 academic year!
