Hey Husker Fans,
We are back at practice and preparing for our trip to Europe later this week.
We had our first practices in about four weeks on Sunday (July 31). In the words of Jordan Hooper, things are going super dooper.
The past four weeks we have been working on individual skills and getting used to playing with and against each other in pickup. I have also spent a lot of time reffing this summer and working summer camps. Both of those things have been beneficial because it helps me get a better understanding of the game by seeing it from different perspectives.
I am really looking forward to this season and having this opportunity to travel to Europe to play. These practices have been very helpful for us. With so many young players on our team this year, we are going to be playing catch up early in the year. Our freshmen and redshirt freshmen are going to need to grow up fast, if we are going to be able to make an impact in our first season in the Big Ten.
It has been great to have KB (Kaitlyn Burke) and Meghin (Williams) back on the floor adding to our experience. On the flip side of it, our freshmen have been picking up our system offensively and defensively very fast. They are so much fun to play with. They are good passers, shooters and are very athletic.
We have been getting after it and working hard each practice. We are definitely getting better with each time we step on the court.
We are not only looking at this group of practices as preparation for Europe, but we're looking at the long-term benefits for this season and beyond.
Go Big Red!
