It's official, we are on our way to Scandinavia and at this point we cannot contain our excitement! This morning we were greeted with red and white balloons in our locker room with a delicious spread along with bright smiles from our Fastbreakers. We are so thankful for their support and everything they have given our team already!
Everyone's anticipation and eagerness can be seen on their faces. With passports and boarding passes on hand, we are anxiously awaiting to board our flight to Stockholm! This is a great opportunity for our team and especially for Brandi (Jeffery), T (Tear'a Laudermill), Becca (Woodberry), Hooper (Jordan Hooper) and our trainer, Julie (Tuttle), who have never been outside of the country.
Our coaching staff and players are all thrilled that Layne Reeves is joining us on our European adventure. She has been helping at our practices and has provided great leadership for our younger players. In the next few paragraphs she will tell you a little more about our Husker adventure as we depart for Stockholm.
Although my injuries have prevented me from playing, I am honored that I am still able to be a part of this team. To see the growth of the freshmen from our first practice until now has been astonishing. I cannot wait to watch this team play against international competition.
I know that these girls will gain immeasurable team unity from this Scandinavian tour. There are so many different fun, goofy, and interesting personalities on this team, which will make this experience more enjoyable. I have already seen some of these personalities come to light. As T wore Adri's (Maurer) bright green sunglasses around the airports and Meghin (Williams) carried around her tiger pillow pet named "Micah."
Layne & Kaitlyn
We know that once we arrive in Stockholm we will be very tired, considering it will be 7 a.m. once we land. However, we have an exciting day planned that Harleen (Sidhu) will tell you all about!
So long from Newark, we will see you in Stockholm, Sweden!!
Go Big Red!
Kaitlyn and Layne
