Nebraska Competes in Day Two of OU Invite
NORMAN, Okla. – The Nebraska men’s tennis team continued play at the OU Invitational on Saturday with singles and doubles play. The Huskers will have a doubles team playing with the right to advance to the championship on Sunday.
The Huskers’ doubles team of Benedikt Lindheim and Christopher Aumueller defeated Oklahoma State’s duo of Chris Haworth and Brandon Champagne, 8-0. They will play another OSU squad of Vlad Bondarenko and Rifat Biktyakov on Sunday with the right to advance to the finals. The other Huskers’ doubles team of Eric Sock and Andre Stenger will play OSU’s Eric West and Maniel Bains on Sunday in the consolation bracket.
In the third round of singles play, NU’s Lindheim defeated OSU’s Bondarenko, 6-1, 6-3, before getting knocked off by another Cowboy in Biktyakov, 6-4, 6-2.
In the consolation bracket, NU’s Tom Blackwell won his first match of the day when he was victorious over Texas Tech’s Tristan Jackson, 6-4, 6-4. However, Arkansas’ Nikolas Zogaj defeated Blackwell in the next round, 6-2, 6-2.
Eric Sock was defeated in his first match of the day when Arkansas’ Manfred Jeske was victorious, 7-5, 6-4.
