Tulsa, Okla.-Three Nebraska women's tennis athletes advanced to the round of 16 in the USTA/ITA Division I Women's Central Regional on Saturday. Madeleine Geibert, Mary Weatherholt and Patricia Veresova all posted wins to put Nebraska's singles record on the weekend at 11-3. In doubles action, both Husker teams in play fell to seeded opponents.
On the singles courts, No. 15 seed Patricia Veresova logged the upset victory over No. 1 Natallia Pintusava of Minnesota, 6-3, 6-4. No. 6 seed Madeleine Geibert added a comeback win over No. 9 Meghan Blevins of Oklahoma State, 5-7, 6-2, 6-0. Mary Weatherholt, a No. 16 seed, posted a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Isaura Enrique of Tulsa.
Maike Zeppernick also saw additional action in the consolation bracket. The sophomore fell at the hands of Biljana Milashevsica of Arkansas State, 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles play, No. 4 seeded Geibert and Weinstein were narrowly edged by the No. 13 seeded duo of Veronika Blaskova and Lucia Kovalova from Wichita State. No. 11 Veresova and Weatherholt were also unable to wrap up a win, falling to No. 5 Tulsa's Anastasia Erofeeva and Ewa Szatkowska, 8-6.
