Lincoln - The No. 28 Nebraska women's tennis team downed the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks on Sunday at the Nebraska Tennis Center by a score of 5-2. The Huskers (8-1) went a perfect 3-0 on the doubles court against the Redhawks (2-7), the fifth time this season NU has swept doubles play in a match.

Nebraska and Miami kicked off their afternoon on the singles courts, where NU jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead. The Huskers' first win came courtesy of No. 57 Mary Weatherholt (NU), who posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Miami's Riekie Honiball (MU) in No. 1 singles.

Weatherholt was followed closely by sophomore Maike Zeppernick (NU), who added a 6-0, 6-2 win over Christine Guerrazzi (MU) at the No. 6 spot. Madeleine Geibert (NU) picked up Nebraska's third point, knocking off Nimisha Mohan (MU), 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 3 position.

Patricia Veresova (NU) clinched the match-winning fourth point for the Huskers, claiming a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 win over Stephanie Danesis (MU) in No. 2 singles. Veresova now holds a 6-1 mark in singles play this spring and a 15-4 singles record overall.

The Redhawks continued to fight, capturing their first point of the match with a victory at the No. 4 position, where Christiana Raymond (MU) handed No. 118 Stefanie Weinstein her first loss this spring, 7-5, 6-4. Miami picked up their second and final point of the match at the No. 5 spot as Alix Thurman (MU) downed Izabella Zgierska (NU), 2-6, 6-4, 7-6.

The Huskers and Redhawks moved to the doubles courts to complete the day. The No. 22 doubles pair of Geibert and Weinstein took the first win for the Huskers, an 8-4 victory over Danesis and Mohan in No. 1 doubles. Weatherholt and Zgierska then posted an 8-5 win over Parr and Guerrazzi on the No. 3 doubles court.

Janine Weinreich and Jennifer Holmberg wrapped things up for the Huskers, completing the sweep with a 8-6 win over Miami's Honiball and Raymond in No. 2 doubles.
