Scott Willman became the first Nebraska men's golfer ever to be named Big Ten Golfer of the Week when he earned the accolade on Wednesday.
Willman, a senior, posted 1-over-par 217 in the Huskers' most recent event, which was the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on Saturday and Sunday. He tied for 27th at the tournament, which featured nine teams in the Golfweek/Sagarin top 50.
The Prairie Village, Kan., native opened play at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate with an even-par 72 on Saturday. Willman followed that up with a 76 in the second round before firing a final-round 3-under-par 69 on Sunday.
Willman has led Nebraska in five of six tournaments during the 2011-12 campaign and has notched five top-20 finishes in the process. His season stroke average of 72.78 leads the team.
The Huskers return to the course at the Jackrabbit Invitational, March 12-13, at Primm Valley Golf Club in Primm, Nev.
