Long Beach, Calif. - Nebraska women's tennis head coach Scott Jacobson hit a milestone on Tuesday, earning his 300th career win as the No. 25 Huskers downed No. 48 Long Beach State, 4-3. The Huskers (15-1, 1-0 Big Ten) dropped the doubles point to the 49ers (10-5) before rallying to win four of six singles matches and secure the victory for Jacobson.

The Huskers kicked off the day on the doubles courts with an uncharacteristic loss, marking the first time this season that NU has dropped a doubles point. Long Beach State used wins in No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to pick up a 1-0 lead. NU's lone doubles victory came at the No. 2 position, where Patricia Veresova and Mary Weatherholt (NU) defeated Sarah Cantlay and Julie Luzar (LBS), 8-2.

Nebraska showed resilience in singles play, battling back to capture the four singles victories necessary to secure the win. The Huskers swept the top three singles positions, led by No. 58 ranked Weatherholt's 6-0, 6-1 win over Long Beach State's Anais Dallara in No. 1 singles. Veresova added a solid 6-2, 6-4 victory over the 49ers' Rachel Manasse at the No. 2 position. Stefanie Weinstein also picked up a win over Laura Bernard (LBS), 6-2, 6-3 in No. 3 singles.

No. 101 ranked Janine Weinreich secured Nebraska's final win of the evening, downing Long Beach State's Karolina Rozenberg in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-1. NU dropped matches at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, setting the final score of the match at 4-3.

The Huskers will continue their Big Ten slate this weekend, travelling to Illinois to face the Fighting Illini as well as the Northwestern Wildcats. The Big Red will first take on No. 46 Illinois in Urbana-Champaign on Saturday at noon before challenging No. 13 Northwestern on Sunday at 11 a.m.
