Huskers Open Play in Texas
Midland, Texas - The Nebraska mens tennis team finished the first day of the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational on Friday night in Midland, Texas.
In first-round singles play, Dusty Boyer defeated Tulsa's Matt Kirby, 6-4, 6-2. In other first-round action, Brandon Videtich was defeated 6-2, 6-1 by Mads Hegulund of New Mexico.
In second-round play Andre Stenger fell 4-6, 5-7 to Hans Hach of Abeline Christian, while Marc Herrmann lost 1-6, 2-6 to Sam Iftikhar of New Mexico. Boyer dropped his match to Jovan Parlic of Arkansas, 6-4, 3-6, 2-6.
In the back draw Herrmann was victorious over TCU's Will Stein, 6-4, 7-5, and Stenger defeated Yaheni Yakauleu of UT-Arlington, 6-4, 6-2. Videtich lost 0-6, 3-6 to Tassilo Schmid of Tyler Junior College to cap the night.
In first-round doubles play, Boyer and Videtich dropped an 8-2 decision to Jacoby Lewis and Joey Swaysland of Texas, while Herrmann and Stenger dropped an 8-3 decision to Matheus Pereira and Alvaro Gutierrez of Wichita State.
