- After a two-week break from competition, the Nebraska men's golf team will
tee off at the Firestone Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, looking to build
on back-to-back top 10 finishes.
The Huskers, who finished 12th at Firestone
Country Club last season, will look to improve on that at the North Course's
par-72, 7,125-yard layout. Monday's first round is a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
(Central Time), with the second round immediately following. Tuesday's final round starts at 7:30 a.m.
(Central Time), with tee times on the No. 1 and No. 10 tees.
Sophomore Ross Dickson will lead NU as the No. 1 spot in
the lineup. The London, England native tied for third in his last time out at
the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate, firing back-to-back 70s in the second and
third rounds. At the season-opening Fairway Club Invitational, Dickson played
as an individual, tying for ninth.
Playing in the No. 2 position is Matt Record. The junior
played at the Fairway Club Invitational, where he tied for 42nd at
235 strokes. Record did not compete for the Huskers at the D.A. Weibring
Intercollegiate two weeks ago.
Jordan Reinertson will be the lone senior in the NU
lineup on Monday and Tuesday, representing the No. 3 spot. Reinertson tied for
45th at the Weibring Golf Course, shooting 232 over three rounds.
Prior to that, Reinertson finished 17th at ArborLinks in the
season-opening Fairway Club Invitational.
Junior Manuel Lavin will play in the fourth position for
the Huskers. Lavin tied for 27th at the Fairway Club Invitational,
amassing 232 strokes over 54 holes. He was not in the Husker lineup at the D.A.
Weibring Intercollegiate.
Rounding out the Husker lineup in the No. 5 spot is Kolton
Lapa. The freshman tied for 39th at the D.A. Weibring
Intercollegiate at 231 strokes. At the season-opening Fairway Club
Invitational, Lapa tied for 23rd at 231 strokes.
The 17-team field in Akron, Ohio includes Big Ten foe
Wisconsin as well as former Big 12 rivals Iowa State and Kansas State. Check Huskers.com
