On if it's getting easier to see the holes and gaps
"Yeah, just getting more comfortable and going out there and playing that's all it is, just how comfortable you are out there and seeing the holes and everything."
On stepping up with Rex Burkhead and Braylon Heard out against Michigan
"I know my role on offense needs to be major and going into every game I just feel I have to go into every game and play my best."
On how important early down success will be against Michigan State
"Early downs are key. We always want to have success on early downs. We don't want any negative plays. Michigan State has a really well-coached defense and very talented defense. They are going play hard, so early success on early downs will be key."
On how physical the game was against Michigan
"I thought Northwestern was more physical actually, Michigan was a physical game. We ran the ball, and we had to go through the four-minute offense to run out the clock to really seal the deal. I thought the offensive line did a really good job with our running game, but it was still a physical game."
On how it feels to run out the clock at the end of the game
"It's always a great feeling to know you have the game and especially getting into victory formation that's the best formation in football."
On how to finish off drives with touchdowns instead of field goals
"Just execution. There are some things that we didn't execute late in drives. We were in the red zone, and we've got to finish better. It's just a mindset. We've got to know when we get in the red zone we can't settle for field goals. We just have to finish drives because that doesn't beat every team."
On the defense taking pressure off the offense
"We always support our defense and we don't worry about them. Anytime they are on the field they are going to handle what they handle. The pressure doesn't really fall off. They are playing well and what they do is what they do. We just worry about ourselves. We don't worry about the defense. We just worry about the offense."
On having Taylor Martinez in the backfield as a running threat
"It's good. It opens a lot of things up for me in the zone-reading game and a lot of time a lot of teams key on him, and that gives me room to free up and hit some open lanes. It's always good to have a running quarterback, because it really frees up some space for running backs."
