Amber Rolfzen started all of the Huskers’ matches in 2013 • Made her Husker debut in NU’s opening weekend, posting eight kills in her first collegiate match against Louisiana-Monroe • Was just the ninth true freshman to start a season opener during Coach John Cook’s career at Nebraska • Led Nebraska in the Ameritas Players Challenge, recording 36 total kills on the weekend • Notched 16 kills in NU’s 3-1 win against Saint Mary’s, hitting at a clip of .382 • Tallied a double-double in every match of the Ameritas Players Challenge and was named the tournament’s MVP • Named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week twice, most recently for her efforts against Minnesota and Wisconsin on Oct. 4 and 5 as she tallied 12 total blocks on the weekend and averaged 1.5 blocks per set • Added a team-high eight blocks against the Badgers and 20 digs and 11 kills on the weekend • Tallied 16 kills and 15 digs in NU’s 3-1 loss to Penn State • Recorded 10 or more kills nine times in 2013 • Posted five double-doubles on the year • Was error-less against Fairfield in the first round of the NCAA Tournament with seven kills on 14 swings (.500) • Notched 244 total kills on the year for an average of 2.14 kills per set, while chipping in 206 digs and an average of 1.81 digs per set.
2013 Sand Season
Amber Rolfzen posted an 8-4 recrod with partner Hayley Thramer in Nebraska's inaugural sand season.
Rolfzen joined the Huskers from Papillion-La Vista South High School in Papillion, Neb. • Named the No. 8 player in the country by Prepvolleyball.com and a Senior Ace • Shared both Prepvolleyball.com’s National Freshman and National Sophomore of the Year honors with her sister and fellow Nebraska teammate, Kadie. • Named a 2013 Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 selection • Earned first-team AVCA Under Armour All-America honors in 2012-13 • Totaled 390 kills as a senior, posting 283 digs and 38 total blocks • Rolfzen was named the ESPNHS Junior of the Year and was a Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year finalist, a Prepvolleyball.com honorable-mention All-American, a MaxPreps second-team All-American and ESPNHS second-team All-American in 2011 • Led Papillion-La Vista South to three consecutive state titles and two undefeated seasons as well as the 2011 and 2010 MaxPreps and ESPN Rise national titles • Was the 2010 Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year and was chosen as a MaxPreps second-team All-American and named the National Sophomore of the Year and a second-team All-American by ESPN RISE • Was selected as a Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year finalist in 2009 • Has also played extensively with USA Volleyball, participating at the 2011 FIVB Volleyball Girls’ Youth (U-18) World Championship, helping her team to a ninth-place finish • Selected to the U.S. Women’s Junior National Volleyball team in 2012.
