Located on 28 acres north of Nebraska Innovation Campus, Barbara Hibner Soccer Stadium was completed in the summer of 2015, and played host to its first game on Wednesday, Aug. 12, when the Huskers defeated South Dakota State in an exhibition match. Nebraska's first regular-season game was a 3-0 win over Kansas on Aug. 21.

The Huskers officially christened the stadium with a ribbon cutting and statue unveiling with the family of former Nebraska Women's Athletic Director and long-time Senior Woman Administrator Dr. Barbara Hibner on hand for a match against Penn State on Sept. 25.

Hibner was the driving force behind Nebraska adding women's soccer as a varsity sport in the fall of 1994.

Hibner Stadium joins the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center as the impressive new components of the Nebraska Soccer and Tennis Complex. In addition to featuring a pristine full-sized, lighted outdoor championship field for the soccer program, the complex includes 12 outdoor, lighted championship tennis courts and six indoor championship courts.

Barbara Hibner Field also features a new technologically advanced video and scoreboard controlled by HuskerVision to enhance the exciting atmosphere at Nebraska soccer games.

The soccer program also benefits from new game-day locker rooms, meeting rooms and athletic medicine areas that make the entire game-day experience among the best in the nation for student-athletes.

A fully functioning press box that includes a dedicated area for television and video cameras sits atop 2,500 seats in the grandstand for Nebraska's devout soccer fans.

In addition to the grandstand seating, berm seating and standing room areas are located around the field to enhance the game-day atmosphere for fans and participants.

An outdoor, elevated viewing deck also provides fans a new perspective from the north end zone, while offering a fantastic view of Nebraska's campus, downtown Lincoln and the state Capitol.

A 1,600 square foot miniature soccer field and playground are set for completion in September to enhance the family-friendly atmosphere at Hibner Stadium.

The combined facility includes outdoor concessions areas for the convenience of Husker fans.

The new facility is located on the east side of 14th Street just south of Cornhusker Highway in the heart of Lincoln, with convenient access from campus, downtown, Cornhusker Highway and I-180. It also includes free parking for 600 vehicles in the adjacent lot on the east side of the soccer stadium. The parking lot can be accessed from 14th Street.

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved the program statement and budget for Nebraska Athletics to build dedicated, on-campus soccer and tennis practice and competition facilities on July 18, 2013. The $20.4 million complex was built using private donations.
