By NU Athletic Communications

Two members of the Nebraska women's tennis team head to Portland, Ore. from Nov. 1-3 to participate in the 2013 USTA Collegiate Invitational presented by Adidas and hosted by the University of Portland. The two Huskers gearing up are Maggy Lehmicke and Izabella Zgierska.

The tournament hosts UCLA, Michigan, Texas, Texas A&M, Duke, Portland and Nebraska taking place at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center. The event welcomes 26 college athletes and eight junior USTA national players.

On Friday, Nebraska's Lehmicke and Zgierska begin the day in doubles at 9 a.m., pairing up to face UCLA's Courtney Dolehide and Catherine Harrison.

The singles begin at 10:30 a.m. with NU's Lehmicke set to challenge Duke's Annie Muholland. The Huskers' Zgierska will play singles later in the day at 1 p.m. in a battle against Portland's Saroop Dhatt.

The doubles second round and consolation matches begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

Results will be available and updated frequently by following @TennisTourny or visit the official website of the 2013 Adidas Collegiate Invitational that will have updates at the end of the day.

Tournament Format

The singles is a very unique format with 8 pools, each with four players (3 collegiate girls, 1 junior). Players will play one singles match each day (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Each singles match will be 2-out-of-3 sets. The winner of each pool will go in to a single elimination “shoot out.” The winner of the shootout will receive a wildcard to a USTA Pro Circuit event in 2014 designated by USTA Player Development.

There is a 16 doubles team draw with a consolation back draw. Each match will be a regular doubles pro set. There will be two doubles rounds on Friday with the semifinals and championship on Saturday.
