Huskers Show Skills for NFL Scouts

By NU Athletic Communications
NFL scouts converged on Lincoln on Thursday to put 2013 Husker seniors through a series of drills on Nebraska's Pro Day.

Thirteen seniors from Nebraska's 2013 senior class took part in the workouts, as well as three 2012 seniors. The group had their chance to impress 28 NFL scouts and position coaches in town to get a look at the Huskers' pro prospects.

Receiver Quincy Enunwa and cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste were on hand for Pro Day after also taking part in the NFL Combine last month. In addition, Combine invitee Spencer Long went through some drills on Thursday as he continues to recover from knee surgery. Long will have an additional opportunity to work out for NFL scouts in Lincoln in mid-April.

Joining the three Combine invitees in Thursday's workouts were offensive linemen Cole Pensick, Brent Qvale, Andrew Rodriguez and Jeremiah Sirles and quarterback Taylor Martinez on offense. Defensive players who tested included defensive linemen Jason Ankrah and Thad Randle and defensive backs Ciante Evans, Andrew Green and Mo Seisay. 2012 seniors Ben Cotton, Kyler Reed and Baker Steinkuhler also took part on Thursday. Steinkuhler worked out with the offensive linemen after playing on the defensive line throughout his Nebraska career.

The participants went through height and weight and other measurable testing to start the day, then did the vertical jump and broad jump in the Ndamukong Suh Strength and Conditioning Center. Pro Day then moved to the Hawks Championship Center for the 40-yard dash, shuttle, 3-cone drill and bench press, before moving to position-specific drills.

The 2014 NFL Draft will take place in New York City from Thursday, May 8 through Saturday, May 10.
