NU Closes Regular Season At Home, Sunday Senior Day
The Huskers host two conference matches this weekend to close the regular season as they face Big Ten opponents Penn State on Friday, April 18 at 3 p.m. before welcoming No. 34 Ohio State on Sunday, April 20 at 11 a.m. for Nebraska’s final home match of the season and the Senior Day for veteran Maike Zeppernick. Nebraska sits at 8-14 overall after a double-loss weekend last week with a 0-7 loss to Northwestern and a 2-4 defeat to Illinois. Nebraska and Penn State have met twice in Nebraska’s history with the Huskers taking both matches, 2-0. NU and Ohio State have met seven times with Nebraska leading the series 5-2.
Huskers In The ITA National Rankings
Nebraska remained out of the ITA Top 75 when the new rankings were released on Tuesday, April 15. There are eight Big Ten teams in the ITA Top 75 and these teams are No. 13 Northwestern, No. 16 Michigan, No. 34 Ohio State, No. 42 Purdue, No. 43 Illinois, No. 48 Indiana, No. 59 Minnesota and No. 67 Michigan State. Michigan and Northwestern are the only two Big Ten teams inside the Top 25.
Scouting the Penn State Nittany Lions

2013 Record: 14-9, 4-8 Big Ten
The Nittany Lions are currently unranked in the national ITA Top 75 with no ranked singles or doubles players. Penn State went 14-9 in 2013 and 4-8 in the Big Ten Conference. PSU were knocked out of the Big Ten Tournament by Minnesota 4-1 in the first round. The Huskers and Nittany Lions have met twice throughout history, with Nebraska earning both matches and leading the series 2-0. The last match between the two teams was on Sunday, March 31, 2013 which resulted in a 5-1 win for the Huskers.
Scouting the Ohio State Buckeyes

2013 Record: 10-14, 3-8 Big Ten
The Buckeyes are currently ranked No. 34 in the national ITA Top 75 rankings with one ranked singles player in No. 92 Gabriella De Santis and two doubles pairs in No. 78 Grainne O’Neill and Noelle Malley and No. 82 Ferny Angeles Paz and Miho Kowase. Ohio State went 10-14 in 2013 with a 3-8 mark in the Big Ten Conference. The Buckeyes lost 4-2 in the Big Ten Tournament first round to Iowa. The Huskers and Buckeyes have met seven times in the program’s history, with Nebraska leading the series 5-2. The last match between the Cornhuskers and OSU was on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 that resulted in a 4-2 victory for the Scarlet and Cream.
This weekend’s matches concludes the Big Red’s regular season for the Huskers. Next up for NU is the Big Ten Tournament hosted by Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. on Thursday-Sunday, April 24-27. Nebraska’s opponent will be determined at the conclusion of the regular season when conference records are finalized.
