Lincoln – Three members of Coach Gary Pepin’s track and field team were named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District Seven Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. The Nebraska men’s squad produced two of the 10 selections on the district first team, while the women’s squad had one honoree. All three were first-team selections and will advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot.

Anne Martin led the women with her selection to the first team. She will compete in the heptathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in two weeks in Eugene, Ore. Martin will look for their first CoSIDA Academic All-America selection as she is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and earned the NCAA Elite 89 Award at the 2013 Outdoor NCAA Championships.

The men’s team was led by sophomores Levi Gipson and Cody Rush. Both will look for their first CoSIDA Academic All-America selections after earning Academic All-Big Ten honors yesterday. Both Gipson and Rush are three-time All-Americans at Nebraska and part of the school-record-breaking indoor 4x400-meter relay team.

The 2014 CoSIDA Academic All-America teams are set to be released in late June. Dating back to 1985, the Nebraska track and field team has 23 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans on the men’s side and the women have another 26.
