Jordan Westerkamp Quotes (March 4)

By NU Athletic Communications

Junior Wide Receiver Jordan Westerkamp
Nebraska Pre-Spring Press Conference
March 4, 2015

On what the mood is like right now with the new staff headed into spring ball
“Excitement. We’re ready to get back out there. I was saying how I can’t believe our strength and conditioning program is already in the books. We’re just finishing that up. These guys have just been really positive throughout the entire process. We’re just really excited and ready to go.”

On how he has gotten to know wide receivers coach Keith Williams
“I think he’s a wonderful coach. I’ve heard lots of great things about him. Meeting him personally, I really like him as a coach. He’s very enthusiastic, which is awesome. I know he will bring a lot to the table. It’s going to be exciting to work with him. Obviously Saturday will be the first time working with him to get some of that hands-on teaching. I’m really looking forward to it.”

On how well he knows the new offensive sytstem
“Yeah, we have some basic plays down. We’ve been able to look at some material to get an idea of what will happen beginning Saturday. We’ll have another meeting shortly to kind of talk about what to expect from the practices. Guys have been getting their books and getting ready. We’ll be ready to go Saturday.”

On the toughest part about learning a new system
“The toughest part is just learning it all because it’s completely new. You’ve got to get rid of old tendencies and old habits that you had with the old staff and old playbook. At first, it was a lot of new material. But once you actually take the time to look at it and break it down, it becomes a little bit easier. It’s just the first initial shock of it all; getting rid of old information and taking in new material. After a while, it gets easier.”

On if the offensive system will play into his strengths
“Yeah. It’s a pro-style type of offense. You’re going to use receivers just like any other offense. It will definitely play to my skill set.”
