Lincoln, Neb. – The 18-6 (5-5 Big Ten) Nebraska women’s tennis team travels to Iowa this weekend for the last tennis match of the 2017 regular season. The Huskers take on Iowa on Saturday, April 22 at Noon in Iowa City looking to improve their record before Big Ten Championship placement.

While on the road last weekend, NU dueled both Michigan State and No. 9 Michigan. After dopping both matches, the Huskers hope to end the season with a both a positive record overall on the season and in the Big Ten.

To finish out regular-season competition, Nebraska will visit the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Hawkeyes welcome the Huskers with a 15-8 overall record on the season and a 4-6 mark in the Big Ten. Iowa also lost to both No. 9 Michigan (4-3) and Michigan State (5-2) on the road last weekend. Iowa leads the all-time series over Nebraska, 16-9.

The Nebraska women’s tennis team is hoping to build on its 125 combined singles and doubles victories this weekend while looking to clinch a winning conference record.

Huskers in Big Ten Standings
Nebraska sits alone in seventh place in the Big Ten standings with a 5-5 record. After the Huskers fell to both Michigan and Michigan State last weekend, Nebraska fell behind Maryland, Illinois, Michigan State, Northwestern, Michigan and Ohio State in the conference standings. NU has one last shot to end with a winning record in the Big Ten as it competes in its final conference match leading up to the Big Ten Championships. With six schools ahead of the Big Red and the potential to pass Maryland (5-4 Big Ten) for the No. 6 spot in the standings, this weekend’s match will be a key factor in final seed placement. The top 10 teams in the final standings advance to the Big Ten Tournament later this month.
