Emily Wood solidified her position as one of Nebraska's top all-around student-athletes by earning the Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award across all the Husker women's sports in 2016-17, as announced by the Big Ten Conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Wood, a 5-5 senior guard for the 2017-18 women's basketball team, earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2017. The management major from Salina, Kan., who came to Lincoln as a walk-on before the start of the 2014-15 season, earned her degree in just three years. She will compete as a graduate student for the Huskers this season.

Wood posted better than a 3.9 GPA in her undergraduate studies and will pursue a master's degree in business administration. Wood, who earned the women's basketball team's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award at the conclusion of the 2016-17 season, also claimed the team's Husker Award in 2017. She was named one of Nebraska's Outstanding Scholar Award winners across all sports for her performance in the classroom. She is expected to be a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar for the second consecutive year in 2017, and is a two-time academic All-Big Ten choice.

In 2016, Wood earned a prestigious Nebraska Student-Athlete HERO Leadership Award for her extensive work in the community. She also participated in the Nebraska Athletics Service Trip Abroad to the Dominican Republic in the summer of 2016. A member of the Nebraska Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Wood represented Nebraska nationally at the NCAA Career in Sports Forum in 2015.

A six-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and a three-time selection to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team, Wood competed in all 29 games for the Huskers on the court as a junior in 2016-17. She averaged 2.1 points per game while knocking down 16 three-pointers on the season.

Wood joined baseball player Ben Miller as Nebraska's 2016-17 overall Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners.
