Griffin Stars in Australian Wins at Asia Cup

Former Nebraska women's basketball All-American Kelsey Griffin played a pair of outstanding games in her debut with the Australian National Team in pool play at the FIBA Asia Cup in Bangalore, India, July 23-24.

In her debut with the Opals on July 23, Griffin scored a game-high 15 points off the bench and added five rebounds to help Australia cruise to a 78-54 victory over Korea. Griffin hit 5-of-10 field goal attempts and knocked down 4-of-5 free throws while playing 18 minutes.

After a strong debut on Sunday, Griffin earned a start in Australia's second game of pool play on Monday in a 107-65 victory over the Philippines. Griffin scored six of Australia's first eight points in the game, before finishing with nine points and five rebounds in just over 10 minutes of playing time. Griffin hit 4-of-5 shots from the field, including her only three-point attempt. She also added an assist.

Griffin and Australia will continue pool play on Tuesday morning against Japan.
