Sritragul Leads Huskers at East & West

Annie Sritragul fired a two-round total of 142 to finish fourth individually over two rounds of stroke play competition at the East & West Match Play Challenge on the tournament's opening day in Madison, Wis..

Sritragul, a sophomore from Bangkok, Thailand, opened Sunday's 36 holes of stroke play with a career-best round of two-under-par 70 on the 6,297-yard layout at the University Ridge Golf Course. She added an even-par 72 in the second round to finish five strokes behind co-leaders Jaclyn Lee (Ohio State) and Kathleen Scavo (Oregon), who each finished with seven-under-par scores of 137 over two rounds. Oregon's Alexis Phadungmartvorakul finished in third with a six-under-par 138 after an opening-round 64.

Sritragul's performance marked her first career top-five individual finish as a Husker, while her 142 also marked the best 36-hole score of her collegiate career.

Audrey Judd, a Husker senior from Olathe, Kan., added a top-10 finish of her own during the stroke play competition of the three-day event. Judd opened with a 74 before closing the day with a one-under-par 71 to tie for ninth at 145.

Kate Smith struggled in Sunday's second round but still managed a tie for 34th in the 48-player field. The sophomore from Detroit Lakes, Minn., opened with a solid 73 in the first round but finished with a 36-hole total of 153.

Freshman Noor Ahmed (Folsom, Calif.) produced Nebraska's fourth-best score of the day with rounds of 76 and 78 to finish in a tie for 36th (154) in her first career lineup appearance for the Huskers.

Sophomore Haley Thiele (79-78-157) tied for 44th, while freshman Hannah Thiele (76-84-160) finished 47th playing as an individual outside Nebraska's five-player lineup.

As a team, Nebraska finished in a tie for sixth (293-299-529) in the eight-team stroke-play portion of the competition and will begin Monday's match play round in the four-team consolation bracket. Oregon qualified for match play as the No. 1 seed (282-291-573), while Iowa State earned the No. 2 seed (280-295-575). Ohio State (300-284-584) and the hosts from Wisconsin (293-292-585) round out the top four teams in the championship bracket, while Michigan (301-290-591), UC Davis (299-293-592) and Oregon State (298-295-593) complete the consolation bracket.

Due to scoring difficulties on Sunday, no results were available until Monday morning.
