Huskers Ready for Maui Jim Intercollegiate
CAREFREE, Ariz. - The Nebraska men's golf team is all set to travel south this weekend to compete at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate. It is the second event of the season and the Huskers will be teeing off at 9:10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 22.
Desert Forest Golf Club, a par-72, 7,203-yard layout, will be the host site of the event. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.
The Huskers look to build on their recent performance at the Badger Invitational and improve on their scores with some new faces in the lineup. Junior Sean Song and sophomore Tanner Owen will look to make an impact in their season debuts. Song finished last season with a stroke average of 77.13 over 15 rounds. Owen ended the year with a stroke average of 75.76 over 17 rounds. Song and Owen will be golfing in the No. 4 and 5 spots, respectively.
Junior Jace Guthmiller hopes to continue to gain momentum after pacing the team along with fellow junior Jackson Wendling at the Badger Invitational. Both finished tied for 54th with a score of 224. Guthmiller and Wendling will be in the No. 1 and 3 spots, respectively.
After impressing in his first collegiate golf event, freshman Daniel Pearson will be making his second appearance in the lineup of the season. Pearson finished the Badger Invitational in third place for the team, as well as a tie for 70th overall and a score of 227.
