Boyer Shines For Huskers at ITA Central Regionals
Minneapolis -- The Huskers began their third and final tournament of the fall season on Thursday, Oct. 19. The Huskers traveled up to Minneapolis, Minn., to compete in the ITA Central Regionals at the University of Minnesota.
In singles play, Huskers junior Toby Boyer led the Huskers in wins and earned a spot to compete in the finals of the ITA Central Regionals. Boyer is the first Husker to reach the finals since Husker legend Karl Falkland won the same event in 1993. The junior from Ham Lake, Minn., won against the likes of Nebraska Omaha's Abdoul Outtarra, 15th seed Artur Dubinski of Oklahoma State, 17th seed Josh Howard-Trip from the Arkansas and 25th seed Josip Krstanovic of Minnesota. Boyer defeated 16th seed Marius Frosa of Witchita State and then Majed Kilani from Tulsa. He will compete Monday Oct. 23 at 10 against Stefan Milicevic of the University of Minnesota. In doubles play the duo of Boyer and Linus Erhart reached the round of 16, but ultimately fell short against Oklahoma's Adrian Oetzbach and Jochen Bertsch, 8-4.
The Huskers wrap up fall play Monday Oct. 23 and begin spring play Jan. 13. Results will be posted on Huskers.com.
