Boyer Qualifies for Oracle National Championship

Lincoln - Nebraska junior Toby Boyer has qualified for the 2017 Oracle National Fall Singles Championship in Palm Springs, Calif.

Boyer reached the finals of the ITA Central Regionals last weekend, earning him a spot in the national tournament that will feature the top 64 players in the country. To get to this point Boyer has defeated tough opponents such as Nebraska Omaha's Abdoul Outtarra, 15th seed Artur Dubinski of Oklahoma State, 17th seed Josh Howard-Trip Arkansas and 25th seed Josip Krstanovic of Minnesota. Boyer defeated 16th seed Marius Frosa of Wichita State and then Majed Kilani from Tulsa. 

"We are excited as coaches to see Toby's hard work paying off as he has had an outstanding Fall and this past week he showed some great mental toughness and fortitude to reach the finals beating some highly ranked opponents," Head Coach Kerry McDermott said. "We are looking forward to seeing him get the opportunity to make a name for himself at the National Tournament."

Boyer will travel to Palm Springs on Nov. 1 and will compete until Nov. 5. Results will be posted on
