Redshirt Recap: Four Huskers See Action at Grand View Open

Des Moines, Iowa – Four Huskers competed at the Grand View Open at Southeast Polk High School in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday. Freshmen Andrew Nielsen (133), Trevor Nichelson (184), Colton Wolfe (197) and Wyatt Wriedt (HWT) each saw action at the open tournament, but none placed on Saturday.

Nielsen was defeated by Vlad Kazakov of Nebraska-Kearney, 6-3, before he was pinned by Logan Sims of Iowa Central in 4:34. Nichelson dropped a pair of matches by decision, first to Jacob Smith of Baker, 9-2, before falling to Joshua Nelson of Concordia, 5-3.

Wolfe dropped a major decision to Dalton Bailey of Life, 14-2, before he was pinned by Connor Larson of Grand View in 4:06. Wriedt lost by a 6-0 decision to Cooper Thomas of Grand View, before losing a 4-2 decision to Nebraska-Kearney’s Jarrod Hinrichs.

Nebraska opens its dual season this Friday, Nov. 17, as it hosts Wyoming at the Devaney Center. The first 400 fans in attendance will receive Takedown for Two Foam Fingers. The dual will be streamed live on BTN Plus and FloWrestling.
