Huskers in Second After First Day of Mizzou Invitational

Columbia, Mo- Multiple Huskers set personal bests on the first day of competition at the Mizzou Invitational.

In the prelims, Sutton Marvin set a career best in the 500-yard freestyle relay (5:04.92), along with Savannah Savitt (4:54.91). 

During the 100-yard butterfly prelim, Izzie Murray (55.42) and Lindsey Stalheim (56.77) set new personal bests.

Gabby Baratta set a personal best in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.29), along with Tori Beeler (1:59.38) and Alli Kopas (2:01.05).

In the 50-yard freestyle prelim, Clara Walstad (24.20) and Jessica Pentlarge (23.71) found personal bests.

During the Thursday night finals, the Big Red secured eighth (1:33.89) and ninth-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:34.60).

Autumn Haebig secured a third-place finish and a new career best in the 500-yard freestyle (4:45.29). Team captain Kaylyn Flatt followed for sixth (4:50.48) and Rachel Powers rounded out the top eight (4:53.73).

In the 100-yard butterfly, Dana Posthuma came in fifth (54.35) and McCafferty followed for sixth (54.58) with a new personal best.

Beeler earned a sixth-place finish (2:00.56) in the 200-yard individual medley, followed by Alli Kopas for eighth (2:01.82) and Shea Bougie for 12th (2:02.21), another new personal best. 

 Lindsay Helferich secured an 11th-place finish (23.37) in the 50-yard freestyle.

The Huskers finished strong, capturing a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay (3:39.20).

The Huskers will continue competition on Friday.
