#ProBigRed: Huskers in the NFL - NFL Conference Championships

By NU Athletic Communications

For the 25th consecutive year, at least one former Husker will play in the Super Bowl. This season, three former Huskers will represent their teams on the NFL's biggest stage. Rex Burkhead, Vincent Valentine and the New England Patriots earned a spot after claiming the AFC Championship by defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars, 24-20. In the NFC, Nathan Gerry helped the Philadelphia Eagles earn a Super Bowl berth by pounding the Minnesota Vikings, 38-7.

In the divisional championships games, Burkhead and Gerry both saw the field. Burkhead had one catch for five yards. Gerry played at the linebacker position and also played on special teams. Former Blackshirt Valentine did not play, as he has spent the season on injured reserve.

Super Bowl LII will be played on Sunday, Feb. 4 at 5:30 (CT). The game is at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn., and will be televised on NBC.
