Huskers Open Home Schedule with Three Duals

Lincoln – The Nebraska women’s tennis team opens its 2018 home schedule with three matches this weekend at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center.

The Huskers, who opened the 2018 spring campaign at the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Nashville, Tenn., being a seven-match home stand by colliding with the Colorado State Rams on Friday, Feb. 2, at 6 p.m. The Big Red will wrap up their first home weekend of the season on Sunday, Feb. 4, by battling Eastern Michigan (10 a.m.) and South Dakota (1:30 p.m.) at the Dillon Tennis Center. Admission to all Nebraska tennis home matches is free.

Nebraska's home opener with Colorado State will start with doubles action before continuing into the evening with singles play. To celebrate National Bubble Gum Day, fans are welcome to enjoy free bubble gum while they take in the exciting tennis action.

The Rams come to Nebraska with a 1-2 overall record following a 6-1 win over Milwaukee on Jan. 28. Colorado State suffered setbacks to in-state rival Colorado and Nebraska's Big Ten counterpart Wisconsin.

Last season, Nebraska defeated Colorado State, 7-0, Feb. 19, 2017 at the Dillon Tennis Center to improve to 20-0 all-time in the series with the Rams. Returning Huskers Paula Del Cueto Castillo, Vasanti Shinde, Katerina Matysova, Claire Reifeis and Jeannie Lozowski all produced victories last year against CSU.

Sunday offers Nebraska tennis fans a day full of action, as the Huskers take on Eastern Michigan at 10 a.m. followed by South Dakota at 1:30 p.m..

Eastern Michigan journeys to Lincoln after defeating Youngstown State. The Eagles are set to face South Dakota (Friday) and Colorado State (Saturday) before squaring off against Nebraska. The Huskers lead the all-time series with the Eagles, 13-0, including a 6-1 win over Eastern Michigan at the Dillon Tennis Center on Feb. 10, 2017.

South Dakota carries a 2-2 overall record with them to Nebraska. The Coyotes own wins over Seattle and Portland State alongside losses to Iowa State and Drake. South Dakota will face Eastern Michigan on Friday, before heading into dual action against Nebraska on Sunday. The Huskers lead the all-time series with South Dakota, 4-0, including a 7-0 win over the Coyotes at the Dillon Tennis Center on Jan. 28, 2017.
