Redshirt Recap: Two Huskers Place at Dave Edmonds Open

South Sioux City, Neb. - Christian Miller (149) placed second at the Sioux City Dave Edmonds Open on Saturday, while Tucker Sjomeling (133) took fourth at the open tournament held at the Marina Inn Hotel & Conference Center.

Miller went 4-1 on the day with a pair of technical falls, but fell in the championship match to Dante Rodriguez of Iowa State in 2:21. With his second-place finish, Miller, who was competing unattached, improves to 11-6 on the season. He also finished second at the Roger Denker Open in January.

Sjomeling, competing unattached, won his first two matches before falling by decision in the semifinal match, as he finished the day with a 3-2 record. He dropped a decision to Gresh Jones of Dickinson State in the third-place match. Sjomeling is now 8-6 on the season.

Wyatt Wriedt also competed unattached at heavyweight, but did not place after going 4-2. Wriedt won a pair of falls in the tournament, but was pinned in the consolation semifinal match by Kevin Barrett of Nebraska-Kearney.
