Huskers Continue Record-Breaking Streak
Columbus- The Nebraska swim and dive team continued competition this morning and multiple Huskers will advance to tonight's finals.
In the 100-yard butterfly, freshman Izzie Murray set a lifetime best coming in at 53.72, which places her at #4 on the all-time school records list and at an 18th seed in the finals tonight. She was followed by Dana Posthuma who earned a 24th seed (54.10). Morgan McCafferty came in at 54.29, which is a new personal best and #8 on the all-time records list. Mira Rhodes also set a personal best with her time of 59.40.
In the 400-yard individual medley, Alli Kopas posted a 4:19.31, which places her at a 24th seed.
Freshman standout Autumn Haebig earned a 20th seed in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.50), and was followed by Carla Gonzalez-Garcia who set a lifetime best and the 10th fastest time in school history in the event at 1:48.37. Jessica Pentlarge set the #15 all-time Husker record and a career best with her time of 1:49.24. Allie Worrall came in at 1:49.64, which is a new personal best and #20 on the all-time list.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Tori Beeler came in at 1:01.37, which landed her at a 15th seed.
Haebig found a 15th seed in the 100-yard backstroke (53.51), followed by Lindsay Helferich who posted a lifetime best coming in at 54.12, which sits at #3 on the all-time list. Gonzalez-Garcia set her second personal best of the day (54.74) and the seventh-fastest time in school history.
The qualifying Huskers will compete in the finals of these events this evening and continue competition through Saturday.
