Huskers' Sixth NCAA Selection Breaks NU Record
The Nebraska rifle team remains in the hunt for a national championship after being selected to attend the 2018 NCAA Championships in Charleston, S.C. The selection marked the Huskers’ sixth consecutive appearance at NCAA’s, breaking the school record of five (2004-2008).
The Huskers are ranked eighth of eight teams. West Virginia took the top spot, followed by TCU and Murray State. Kentucky, Alaska and Air Force took fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Ohio State landed in seventh to complete the field.
Nebraska placed sixth in the 2017 NCAA Championships with a score of 4,676. West Virginia swept both disciplines, winning their fifth consecutive overall championship. TCU and Murray State took second and third, respectively. Kentucky finished fourth and Alaska earned fifth. Ohio State (seventh) and Air Force (eighth) rounded out the field.
Smallbore action for the 2018 NCAA Championships is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. CT on Friday, Mar. 9 in Charleston, S.C. Air Rifle will begin in the same location the following day, also at 7 a.m.
