Gillman Earns Degree
Nebraska women's golf senior Emily Gillman was among the 62 Husker student-athletes who received their diplomas during University commencement exercises on Saturday morning at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Gillman was a leader for a young Husker team as a senior in 2017-18. A two-time WGCA Scholastic All-American, Gillman was a regular contributor for the Huskers throughout her career, finishing with a 79.31 career stroke average over 70 rounds.
She opened her fourth season by playing as an individual outside the Husker lineup at the UNO Invitational at ArborLinks in Nebraska City, Sept. 1-2. Gillman managed a three-round total of 240 (73-86-81) to tie for 32nd. She added a tie for 35th with a 242 (84-81-77) at Nebraska's lone home tournament of the season at the Chip-N Club Invitational at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln, Oct. 1-3.
The Austin, Texas native was a leader in the community as a three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team and a winner of a prestigious Sam Foltz Hero 27 Leadership Award in 2017. She was also a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2016 and claimed academic All-Big Ten accolades in 2016 and 2017.
Gillman was among the largest graduating class in University of Nebraska history, with more than 3,250 students earning graduate or undergraduate degrees in May. Overall, Nebraska's may graduates came from 46 states and 61 countries around the world.
