Three Huskers Earn Big Ten Preseason Honors
Nebraska’s Meg Brandt, Aubrei Corder and Sinclaire Miramontez each earned spots on the Big Ten Women’s Soccer Preseason Honors List, announced by the conference on Monday.
Brandt, a junior from Ankeny, Iowa, ranked third on the 2017 Huskers with four goals en route to third-team All-Big Ten honors. After the season, she attended the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team Training Camp from May 11-18 in Carson, Calif. Brandt, who has six career goals and four career assists, earned Big Ten All-Freshman Team accolades in 2016.
Corder, a junior from Barboursville, W.Va., has started every game in goal during each of the last two seasons for the Huskers. The 2017 third-team All-Big Ten selection became the ninth Husker to reach the 100-career save milestone last season and enters the 2018 campaign with 131 saves, ranked seventh in program history. Corder holds a 0.75 goals-against-average in 41 appearances, amassing nearly 4,000 career minutes.
Miramontez, a junior from Lenexa, Kan., played nearly every second of the 2017 campaign on her way to first-team All-Big Ten and second-team All-Region honors. She has attended three U.S. Women’s National Team Training Camps (U-19, U-20, U-23) over the last two years. In 2016, Miramontez earned Big Ten All-Freshman Team recognition in helping NU qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
In addition to the Preseason Honors List, the Big Ten released its preseason coaches’ poll. Nebraska is picked to finish eighth in the conference. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the Big Ten Tournament.
