Huskers Set for Eight Games this Fall
The Nebraska softball team begins its fall season this weekend, which will include eight home games.
The Huskers will kick off the fall season with a double header against South Dakota on Sept. 16 beginning at 1 p.m. On Sept. 23, the Huskers welcome North Dakota State for a double header beginning at noon.
The next weekend, Nebraska hosts the Big Red Fall Classic Oct. 6-7. The Huskers will play two games each day. On Saturday, NU faces off against Colorado State at 10 a.m., followed by a game against UNO at 12:30 p.m. Colorado State and Omaha will then play a game at 3 p.m. On Sunday, Nebraska plays Colorado State at 10 a.m. and UNO at 1:00 p.m.
All games will take place at Bowlin Stadium and are free admission. All Sunday games will be broadcasted on Huskers.com, courtesy of the IMG Husker Sports Network.
Nebraska returns 12 players from last season, including seniors Madi Unzicker, Alyvia Simmons, Regan Mergele and Bri Cassidy. Simmons was an NFCA All-Region pick last season. Additionally, Simmons and junior Tristen Edwards earned All-Big Ten honors in 2018. Simmons earned second-team honors, while Edwards became NU's first first-team conference honoree since 2016.
Other returning juniors include Lexey Kneib and Bree Boruff. Joining the upperclassmen as returners are sophomores Sarah Yocom, Rylie Unzicker, Ally Riley and Olivia Ferrell. Payton Huscroft also returns this season as a redshirt freshman after missing last season due to an injury.
NU welcomes eight newcomers, including Pacific transfer Samantha Owen, who will have two seasons left with the Huskers. The freshman class is made up of Carson Fischer, Mikaela Forcum, Peyton Glatter, Anni Raley, Karlee Seevers, Courtney Wallace and Lindsey Walljasper.
