Huskers Jump to 17th in RPI
The Nebraska soccer team (8-3-3, 4-0-2 Big Ten) moved up one spot in this week’s RPI to No. 17 in Monday’s set of rankings.
The Huskers, who remain atop the Big Ten standings with 14 points (three points for a win, one point for a tie), extended their unbeaten streak to seven consecutive games with a win and a tie during their road trip over the weekend. NU topped No. 50 Penn State, 1-0, on Thursday night before tying No. 41 Ohio State, 1-1, on Sunday.
Nebraska holds the best ranking by a Big Ten team, 16 spots ahead of No. 33 Wisconsin. The Huskers and Badgers square off Oct. 18 in Madison, Wis. In the conference standings, NU holds a three-point lead over Rutgers (11 points) and a four-point advantage over Ohio State (10) and Minnesota (10).
The Huskers own two wins over top-25 opponents this season. NU defeated No. 22 Oregon on Aug. 24 at Hibner Stadium and No. 12 NC State in Raleigh, N.C., on Sept. 9. The Huskers fell to No. 9 Baylor on Sept. 2 and No. 23 Washington State on Aug. 31. The Cougars are 10-0 this season.
Nebraska also has wins over No. 38 Purdue, No. 56 Oklahoma, No. 110 Indiana, No. 142 Maryland and No. 173 Oregon State this season. NU tied No. 43 Rutgers and No. 61 BYU. The Huskers also have a loss to No. 26 Duke.
