PEO Workshop Preps Student-Athletes for Opportunities Beyond the Playing Field

By NU Athletic Communications

Lincoln, NE – This past Sunday, September 30, over 100 third-year student-athletes across all sports attended the annual Post-Eligibility Opportunities (PEO) Workshop in Memorial Stadium. Hosted by the Nebraska Life Skills Department, the event featured presentations from Tom Allison of UNL Career Services, Allison Hinesley of UNL Education Abroad, and Ruth Oliver of UNL Graduate Studies.

The purpose of the workshop is to educate third-year student-athletes with detailed information and resources relating to Life Skills’ PEO Program, which provides student-athletes unmatched educational experiences that increase their marketability, personal and professional development, and intellectual growth. Through the PEO Program, letterwinner alumni are eligible for a one-semester scholarship valued up to $7,500 to apply toward a one-semester internship, study abroad experience, or graduate school. Since the program’s beginning in 2016, more than $1,000,000 in aid has been distributed to a total of 144 participants. To learn more about the Post-Eligibility Opportunities Program visit
