Red-White Series Begins This Weekend

By NU Athletic Communications

Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska baseball team concludes its fall practice with the annual Red-White Series at Hawks Field, starting this weekend.

Game 1 is scheduled for Friday, starting at 5 p.m. The second game will be played on Saturday at 11 a.m. The series finale is set for Friday, Oct. 26 at 5 p.m.

Each game will consist of six innings. All three games are open to the public and are free to attend. Gates will open 60 minutes prior to game time.

Fans who park at Haymarket Park for Saturday’s game should expect to pay $25 for parking due to Nebraska’s football game at 2:30 p.m.

New season tickets for the 2019 season can be purchased starting on Friday at 10 a.m. by visiting Huskers.com/tickets. Fans in attendance at the Red-White Series will also have a chance to buy season tickets by visiting the ticket window at Haymarket Park before the end of the fourth inning for Games 1 and 3.

Current season ticket holders will receive renewal information in the near future. Improvements and additional purchases will be available in January during the Seat Yourself process, which allows fans to choose their own seats at Hawks Field.

Earlier this fall, Nebraska hosted two exhibition scrimmages at Hawks Field against other teams. Wichita State (Sept. 22) and Kansas (Oct. 6) visited the Huskers in unscored games that were open to the public.

Nebraska’s 2019 schedule, which was announced earlier this month, will feature games against seven NCAA Tournament qualifiers, including three College World Series participants. In addition, the Huskers face each of the top four teams from last year’s Big Ten standings.

NU has 27 home games at Hawks Field scheduled for 2019, with the home opener slated for March 5 against Omaha. The season opener is set for Feb. 15 against UC Riverside in Riverside, Calif.

In addition to seeing Nebraska’s returning players during the Red-White Series, fans will get a chance to watch NU’s highly touted recruiting class during the intrasquad event. The Huskers welcomed 15 newcomers, including 11 freshmen, to the roster this fall.

The recruiting class was ranked 16th nationally by D1 Baseball, the best ranking by a Big Ten team on the list. Baseball America also ranked the Huskers’ recruiting class with a top-35 spot nationally, as one of two Big Ten teams to achieve that status.

Red-White Series Schedule

Game 2: Saturday, Oct. 20 – 11 a.m. (6 innings)
Game 3: Friday, Oct. 26 – 5 p.m. (6 innings)
