Student Affairs Staff Honored with Luncheon
Lincoln, NE – Over the past several months, members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at the University of Nebraska have made it a point to thank various individuals for helping to make their student-athlete experience second-to-none. This past Halloween, such thanks came in the form of a Student Affairs Appreciation Luncheon.
During this event, members of SAAC hosted over 50 staff members from student affairs and academic programs to personally thank them for their contributions in making their college experience a success. Student affairs employees were invited to join SAAC student-athletes for a catered meal in Memorial Stadium in their honor, giving the staff members the opportunity to interact with the students they tirelessly serve on a daily basis.
The luncheon was kicked off by appreciative remarks by Senior Associate Athletic Director for Life Skills, Keith Zimmer. After enjoying their complementary meal, student affairs staff members were also thanked by SAAC president Anton Stephenson and representative Paula Del Cueto Castillo. The two shared stories detailing how student affairs employees have positively impacted their time at Nebraska.
Before the conclusion of the luncheon, attendees partook in a brief game of trivia and were thanked once more, this time by Executive Associate Athletic Director for Academics Dennis Leblanc. The staff members were then free to leave, however many stayed to mingle with the student-athletes for a few more minutes before returning to work.
On behalf of SAAC and Nebraska Life Skills, a huge thank you goes out to the entire Student Affairs staff for the role they play in making the Husker student-athlete experience not only possible, but impactful as well.
