Huskers Lead Track Kat Klash

 Houston, Texas- The Nebraska bowling team returned to the lanes on Saturday at the Track Kat Klash in Houston, finishing the day with an overall record of 8-2 and a total pinfall of 9,883. This performance landed the Huskers in first place heading into the final day of competition.

The Huskers started the day strong, beating No. 6 Stephen F. Austin by a score of 1,044 to 1,026. Building off their first win, NU continued to win each of their next games against No. 7 Maryland Eastern Shore (1,129-1,013), No. 22 Maryville (988-898), and Prairie View A&M (1,039-1,015).  The Huskers' only loss of the day came from Arkansas State, as the Red Wolves took the game 911-881.       

Senior Meghan Straub landed in first place in the individual standings for the second tournament in a row with her average of 226.6. Junior Raquel Orozco also landed in the top five, taking fifth place with her average of 211.4.

The Huskers will face Maryland Eastern Shore in the opening round of the best-of-seven Baker format championship tournament on Sunday morning at 8:20 a.m. (CT).
