Miramontez Tabbed First-Team All-Region

By NU Athletic Communications

Junior defender Sinclaire Miramontez earned first-team All-North Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches for the 2018 season.

Miramontez, who started each of the first 17 games of the season before suffering an injury, helped guide the Huskers to a fifth-place finish in the Big Ten and a berth in the conference tournament. The All-Region award marks her second postseason honor for 2018, as she garnered first-team All-Big Ten recognition for the second consecutive season earlier this month.

A Lenexa, Kan., native, Miramontez compiled 1,536 minutes and scored two goals, while helping the Husker defense to six shutouts. She recorded her first goal of the season on Aug. 26 against Oregon State en route to earning Big Ten Defensive Player-of-the-Week accolades. Miramontez added a goal in NU’s tie against Michigan on Oct. 12.

Miramontez’s 2018 All-Region honor marks the second of her career, as she took home second-team All-Midwest Region pundits from the United Soccer Coaches in 2017. Nebraska increases its All-Region total to 59 awards, including 34 first-team honorees, in its 25-year history as a program.
