Chad Red Jr. (141), Peyton Robb (157) and David Jensen (HWT) each took home the title in their respective brackets. Johnny Blankenship and Dalton Peters each finished with 5-0 records at 165 pounds and decided not to wrestle each other in the final, tying for first place in their weight class.
Jevon Parrish (133), a freshman from Olathe, Kan., had his second consecutive second-place finish in open tournament play this weekend. He went 4-1 with three wins by decision and one by fall. He lost 6-5 in a decision to Northeast Oklah’s Boo Dryden in the 133-pound championship.
Tucker Sjomeling (133), who has competed in three duals for NU this year (2-1 record), took home a sixth-place finish at the Doane Open. He won five of his six bouts on Saturday, with three wins coming by fall, one by major decision and one by tech. fall. He did not compete in his last two consolation matches, thus finishing sixth.
2018 All-American Chad Red Jr. (141) competed in his first open tournament of the year this past weekend. The Indianapolis, Ind., native went a perfect 6-0 with all six wins coming by bonus points (three pins, three tech. falls).

Licking and Silverstein both won their first four matches before falling in the semifinals and moving to the consolation bracket. After each winning a consolation semifinal, Silverstein forfeit in the third-place match, giving Licking a third-place finish.

The freshman looks to build off these last two tournament titles as he continues to gain experience in his first year as a Husker.
“I’m very happy about how I’ve been performing lately,” Robb said. “I feel like I’ve been wrestling much better on top and have been finishing in a more dominant fashion.”
Sophomore Johnny Blankenship (165), went 4-0 before declaring a no-contest in the championship against teammate Dalton Peters. Peters and Blankenship combined to win all nine of their matches, with five of them coming by bonus points.
Freshman Anthony Gaona (197) finished third in his weight class, going 5-1 on the day. Fellow first-year Husker Austin Emerson (HWT) took fourth place, notching his fourth consecutive top-five finish in tournament play to begin his career.
