By NU Athletic Communications

The Nebraska men's gymnastics team ranks sixth in the Big Ten Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Illinois men’s gymnastics team was selected to earn top honors by the seven Big Ten Conference coaches, announced Thursday. The Fighting Illini won the 2018 Big Ten Championships, earning their first title since 2012. Minnesota, second-place finishers at the 2018 NCAA Championships, was voted second in the poll, with Michigan third, Penn State fourth, and Ohio State fifth. Nebraska and Iowa rounded out the poll, respectively.

The Huskers finished sixth at the Big Ten Championships last season. Returning All-American Anton Stephenson claimed the conference vault title and parallel bars title, becoming the first Husker to win two gold medals in one conference meet since 1998. Jake Bonnay also claimed the silver medal on vault and earned 2018 Second-Team All-Big Ten, while Anton Stephenson was a 2018 First-Team All-Big Ten selection. Stephenson and Bonnay were named 2019 Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch.
