Huskers Lead in Orlando

 Orlando, Fla.- The Nebraska women's bowling team went 2-3 on Friday the Sunshine State Classic. The Huskers finished the day in first place with a pinfall of 5,081 heading into Saturday’s traditional matches.

The Huskers began Friday with two close losses to Vanderbilt (1,020-1,040) and Youngstown (1,000-1,011). NU quickly bounced back with a dominant victory over Bethune-Cookman by a score of 1,106-607. The Huskers fell to UAB by a score of 979-1,028 before defeating Florida A&M by a score of 976-806 to end Friday’s match play.


The Sunshine State Classic continues Saturday at 8:25 a.m. (CT) with five traditional matches beginning with a match against Delaware State. NU will then take on host Sacred Heart, Prairie View A&M, and Tulane before closing the day with a match against Lincoln Memorial.

Combined results from Friday and Saturday will determine the seeding for Sunday's bracket-play championship tournament, where each team will play two rounds of best-of-seven Baker matches beginning at 8:25 a.m.
