Huskers Wrap Up Competition at Two Meets

The Nebraska track and field team wrapped up competition at two meets on Saturday, one in Arkansas and one in Iowa.

At the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Angela Mercurio set a triple jump personal best of 43-6 (13.26m) to finish second in the event. Her mark put her at No. 6 in school history and No. 8 in the NCAA this season. Ieva Turke also jumped a personal best of 42-6 1/4 (12.96m) to place seventh.

Freshman high jumper Mayson Conner had another strong showing with a clearance of 7-2 1/2 (2.20m) without a miss. He finished fifth in the invitational section of the event. 

Candice Dominguez won the early section of the women's high jump after tying her personal best of 5-9 3/4 (1.77m). Michael Hoffer also set a high jump PR of 6-11 /2 (2.12m) to finish third in the men's early section. Miles Griffith was fourth at 6-9 1/2 (2.07m). 

On the track, Whitney Bridges ran a 200-meters PR of 24.36, and the women's 4x400-meter relay team ran a season-best 3:41.47.

At the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Burger Lambrechts finished third in the shot put with a toss of 60-4 3/4 (18.41m).

On the track, a pair of Huskers placed in the 60 meters and 400 meters. Noah Lukz and Quashira McIntosh finished fourth (7.00) and sixth (7.83), respectively, in their 60-meter finals. Cody Mroczek crossed the finish line seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 49.01 and Bryce Barrett finished eighth with a season best of 49.11.

Elsa Forsberg set a PR and finished ninth in the mile with a time of 4:48.75. The men's 4x400-meter relay team finished third with a time of a 3:16.68.

The Huskers will host the Nebraska Tune-Up at Noon next Friday at the Devaney Center.
