Huskers Conclude Stormin' Ladyjack Invitational
Dallas, Texas- The Nebraska women’s bowling team went 8-5 over the weekend at the Stormin’ Ladyjack Invitational. The Huskers finished with a total pinfall of 13,321 to take fourth place.
The Huskers started off the day with a victory over Vanderbilt (940-93), sending them to play Sam Houston State as the number one seed of the best four-of-seven baker style championship tournament. The Bearcats came out strong, taking the first game 182-202. The Huskers rallied, taking the next game 227-189. After a 189-189 tie, the Huskers dropped the next three matches 170-179, 169-203, 196-213, respectively.
This loss sent the Huskers to play McKendree. The Huskers dominated the first two matches 202-194 and 232-212 before dropping the next three 223-241,198-215, 173-247. After a 201-169 victory, McKendree won their fourth game of the match 198-254. This 3-4 loss landed the Huskers in fourth place to finish the tournament.
Senior Meghan Straub led the Huskers in the individual standings, placing second in the individual standings with an average of 212.83. Juniors Allison Morris and Raquel Orozco also finished in the top twenty with their averages of 200.67 and 198.83, respectively.
“This was the strongest field of competitors this year," said Head Coach Bill Straub. "Head to head we beat all of the other top teams and led the qualifying again. It was a productive weekend.”
Nebraska will host the annual Big Red Invitational March 2-4 at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln.
