Husker Trio to Finals, Knapton Breaks PR
Bloomington- The Nebraska swimmers continued competition this morning and multiple Huskers will advance to tonight's finals.
In the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Autumn Haebig raced to a qualifying B-cut time of 4:45.03. Haebig will compete in the B finals as a 12th seed tonight. Freshmen Maggie Berning (5:00.07), Audrey Coffey (4:55.48) and Katelyn Kilpatrick (4:59.33) all set life-time bests.
Senior captain Anna McDonald joins Tori Beeler in the C finals for the 200-yard individual medley. Beeler captured the 20th seed with a time of 2:00.04, and McDonald as a 22nd seed with a time of 2:00.28. Freshman Taylor Acheson snapped her life-time best with a new personal record of 2:07.23.
Senior Lindsay Helferich led the Huskers in the 50-yard freestyle for a 26th-place finish (23.14) with Clara Walstad following behind in 30th (23.22). Walstad tied with 2017 senior Erin Oeltjen for 14th-place in the Nebraska All-Time record.
Freshman Jessica Warak rallied in 276.70 points in preliminaries to set her at 16th place. This qualified her for the consolation final where she scored 294.10 points to put her at 12th place.
Two-time All-American Abigail Knapton set a personal record in prelims with a score of 323.70. Knapton reached a fourth-place finish and will compete in the final round tonight.
The qualifying Huskers will compete in the finals of these events this evening and continue competition through Saturday.
