Huskers In Second At GARC Championships

Akron, Ohio – The Nebraska rifle team concluded its first day of conference shooting action in second place following the completion of smallbore competition at the GARC Championships.

Nebraska assembled its second-highest smallbore team score of the season, tallying a total of 2,319. Emily Cheramie was the frontrunner for NU after tying her career-high score of 585. Cheramie placed third out of 78 competitors overall. Cheramie and Nina Radulovic (582) both made the finals and finished sixth and eighth overall, respectively. Samantha Peterson (580) finished in ninth place overall to bring consistency to the Huskers. Hannah Virga contributed 572. Bailey Powell brought in 569 to round out the Huskers. Kinga Aletto notched 564 and Maddie Korthas was close behind with 563, both competing individually. Although not squadded, Elena Flake (561), Kayla Gadeken (559) and Rachel Yager 559) all brought in solid scores for Nebraska.

The Huskers are in second behind West Virginia (2,342). Defending national champion Kentucky is in third with 2,309. Ole Miss and Akron were tied with 2,302 but Ole Miss won the tiebreaker to grab fourth place. Memphis (2,300) and Navy (2,298) are in sixth and seventh, respectively. Army is in eighth with 2,286 and NC State rounds out the field 2,281.
